Well, it has been another busy week around our house. Chris had his shoulder surgery on Friday and has had quite a difficult recovery. They almost stuck him in the hospital overnight because he kept blacking out so much. They were afraid to send him home. The recovery is going very slow. I wish I could just snap my fingers and make it better for him! Dad was in the hospital today having a cardio ablation done to permanently fix a heartbeat problem. We are thankful that all went well with that! I got a great laugh today after the nurse took his complete medical history detailing the removal of one kidney, part of the other kidney, removal of the adrenal glands, the radiofrequency ablation to the remaining kidney, etc....then said...are you an organ donor??? I died laughing. She didn't think it was so funny, but come on...you just asked a man with cancer if he was an organ donor. My dad politely told her it was an inside joke since he didn't have many organs left to donate! Glory! Caroline is getting a second tooth up top and it has been giving her quite a fit this week poor thing, but she's still running all over the place. She's happy to have her daddy home for a bit while he's recovering. We can't wait for Halloween. I'm sure you all can guess what Caroline will be. Look for pics soon!

44 Weeks
Well, it's hard to believe we've made it to 44 weeks now! Today is Granddougie's birthday...happy birthday! This last week has been quite busy. Chris will be having shoulder surgery this Friday, so we have been getting prepared for that. Caroline learned to clap this week. Now if she can just combine the clapping with her dancing and foot stomping she'll be ready for a blue grass concert! Those are some big eyes! Here's Caroline showing off her new clapping skills!
Ok...isn't this just the sweetest picture???
Here is Caroline having some playtime with her twin friends.Ok guys, really you're making me dizzy!!!
Caroline is practically sitting on top of Huiet Ann. She doesn't understand it's not polite to squash your friends.
Whatever they're looking at must be fascinating.

43 Weeks
It certainly has been a busy week. Sadly, our Uncle Steve passed away over the weekend after a long battle with kidney cancer. We were blessed to have him on earth for 61 years. It has been a difficult week for our family having to say "good-bye," but I am comforted by the words of Paul in II Tim. 4:7-8 "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness..." We traveled to Winston-Salem for Steve's service which was quite beautiful. There was a gentle breeze blowing in the cemetery, and it was as if you could feel his presence with us. Uncle Steve loved the outdoors, and it was a beautiful day to send him on his way. It was much like the day 2 years ago when he took me on a long, quiet walk through the woods with the leaves beginning to change colors. We will certainly miss Uncle Steve, but his sweet, serene spirit will always be with us.
Chris continues to be suffering greatly from his shoulder injury. He has gone to physical therapy several times now and will go back tomorrow. He returns to the orthopaedist next week, and we hope he will do something to relieve poor Chris from all this pain!I'm learning how to wave!Caroline enjoyed getting to meet her cousins while we were in Winston-Salem. This is Meredith, Sarah and Matthew with Granddougie. Uncle Steve's dog, Lucy was so much fun to play with!
Caroline loved to open her mouth so Lucy could give her kisses...YUCK!!!
This is Cousin Sarah. She loved to play with Caroline and take good care of her. She is going to make a great little mommy one day!
Caroline loved to have Grandma push her on the luggage cart all over the hotel on our trip...well, except the one time she fell off...oops!

42 Weeks
Well, it has been quite a busy week. Caroline went for her 6 mo. follow up with the urologist last Thurs. Everything is going great for now, so if nothing happens in the meantime she won't have to return for another 6 months, but that's when she'll have to do the big yucky tests again. Between Friday and today I've taken Chris to 3 different doctors (including a trip to the ER that lasted until 3 am!) because he has done something horrible to his shoulder. He has been in excruciating pain and yet still we have no definitive answer. He will go for physical therapy tomorrow and try that for a few weeks and see if it helps. If not, they may have to do exploratory surgery as they think his labrum is torn. Yesterday, I took Mom up to Duke and back. She got a great report and we thank God so much for that! Unfortunately, it looks like my dad's brother that has the same kidney cancer as my dad will probably pass away any day now. This has been quite an emotional, busy week for me trying to keep everybody in positive spirits and shuttle them back and forth to various doctors! I am so grateful for all of our family that has stepped in to help day and night. It really means a lot to us. My motto is "one day at a time," so that's what we're going to do. God continues to send us little blessings each and every day...you can see some of them in these pics! :) Caroline is quite a ham. She imitates us all the time. She has this toy where if she presses Farmer Tad he will play his banjo. She will start bobbing up and down like she's dancing and stomp her foot because she's seen us do it. I've tried to catch her on video doing it, but no luck yet. Watch out for that in the coming weeks hopefully!

41 Weeks
Caroline is busy growing and learning new things every day! If I have a bandaid on the back of my leg she will sneak up behind me and try to rip it off real fast...ouch! She has also learned how to pull CDs out of the stereo and how to rip DVDs out of their cases. What a mess! It's hard to tell, but her shirt says, "When I learn to walk, I'm going to Krispy Kreme." Thanks to Auntie Beth for the cute shirt. I think she'll just have to stick to these plastic doughnuts for a while!
Ok...these are the cutest PJs ever. I wish I could remember who gave her these, but they have bunny rabbits on the feet and there's one on her booty...too cute.
Caroline got to go to the park with Baby Lela on Monday and really enjoyed swinging!
